Hate crime. Compulsive mental illness. These would be what came to my mind when I read the news about Cathay Pacific flight attendant who wanted to embarrass and possibly harm the daughter of the former Prime Minister during her trip from Bangkok to Hong Kong.

The culture of hate among the Bangkok elites have taken roots in the generation of the young. This is clearly evident in this case. Hate speech and crimes are common, especially when one is targeted based on your association with the family, in this case, being the daughter of Thaksin Shinawatra.
Paetongtarn displayed courage when asked upon learning that someone had expressed so much hate against her and her family. I hope more Thais emulate patience in the face of challenges.
