Former Prime Minister and disgraced Democrat Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva arrived at the Criminal Court to face charges in connection with the 2010 street protest crackdown.
The charges brought forth accused Abhisit of conspiring to murder the protesters and civilians by ordering the Centre for Resolution of Emergency Situation to disperse the 2010 red-shirt protests, which resulted in 99 deaths and over 2,000 injuries.
Meanwhile, lawyers representing Suthep Thaugsuban, also charged with conspiring to murder while being in power as the former Deputy Prime Minister, asked the court to postpone the trial. Suthep is now is considered by many as a fugitive, and using his mob to prevent any arrest.
Abhisit’s bail was set at 1.8 Million baht. At 12:3o pm, Abhisit left the court by the back door in order to avoid the local and international journalists and media.
