Deputy police chief Pol.Gen. Ek Angsananant confirms the police have set up check points to prevent a third-party attempt to incite violence during the political protests.
Pol.Gen. Ek on Sunday inspected many check points such as those at Lat Phrao junction on inbound Vibhavadi Rangsit road, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the head office of the Pheu Thai party. The check points primarily search for weapons on suspected vehicles and individuals and have so far found knives, guns and grenades.
The deputy Police commissioner-general stated that the police had no intention to prevent the protesters from joining in the rallies. The inspection was only aimed to see if more check points and officers should be deployed for better crime suppression, he said.
