Rayong: Protection of biodiversity and tourism

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra visited the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Rayong to inspect progress made toward solving industrial pollution.

On Wednesday morning, the PM was in the briefing on Map Tha Put’s solution on industrial waste and chemical residue contamination at the office of Map Tha Phut Industrial Estate. She later met with a group of residents living around the estate and being affected by air and soil pollution.

Then she visited PTT Global Chemical to join the meeting on how the company would prevent the future disaster caused by possible oil spill. The PTTGC has been severely criticized during the recent crude oil pipeline leakage that has blackened Ao Phroa beach on the famous Samed island with black oil spill.

The beach has just reopened to tourist last week after a three-month closure for cleanup operations.
