Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has stated that the government is keen on promoting human rights, while affirming that human trafficking will be her main focus.
During the “PM Yingluck Meets the People” program on NBT, the Premier mentioned about her official trip to Switzerland, saying she expressed her desire to be a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the year 2017-2018.
At her meeting in Geneva with the UNHRC, Yingluck assured the Council that the Thai Government would do whatever it took to protect liberty and human rights as cracking down on human trafficking will be her main focus. She also told the Council of her intentions to take the best care of migrant workers in Thailand as humanitarian aid will be provided for the migrants.
The Thai Premier had also stated that she supported the idea that all human being are created equal and should be treated as such, having the same rights, privileges, and dignity regardless of who they are or where they come from.
