The Malaysian king arrived in Thailand on Monday for a three-day state visit as guest of Their Majesties the King and Queen.

The Malaysian King, accompanied by his wife, was granted an audience with the King and Queen at Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan, on Monday, the Thai Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be granted an audience with him on Tuesday in Bangkok, it added.

After Indonesia and Brunei, Thailand is the third ASEAN country to be visited by the Malaysian king, following his installation as the king of Malaysia for the second time in April last year.

His visit is aimed at strengthening existing relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand, the Bernama report added.
