The Tourism Authority of Thailand is aiming to increase the number of foreign visitors to Thailand to 28 million persons next year, while also increasing the number of domestic tourists by implementing the “Dream Tourism” initiative.
The TAT’s Dream Tourism model aims to appeal to Thais’ dreams of traveling the ways they want to. The TAT has indicated it will use this model to promote domestic tourism in the year 2014, and will carry out the promotion simultaneously with its “Fall in Love with Thailand” campaign, to achieve year-round tourism activity.
The tourism authority also aims to place greater importance on the tourism activities of the underprivileged and people with disabilities.
In the meantime, the TAT has laid down a strategy to pull in more tourists from the middle and lower segments of growing markets that include China, Russia and India. By this attempt, it expects to increase the number of foreign visitors by 13% to 28 million.
The TAT also expects to increase the spending by Thai tourists by 9% and increase the number of trips by Thais to 136 million in 2014.
