Thai farmers expressed their gratitude to the Government for keeping the pledging price for a ton of rice at 15,000 baht during their visit to Government House.
About 30 farmers and community leaders paid Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra a visit to express their gratitude to her for not reducing the pledging price of rice from 15,000 baht per ton to 12,000 baht.
Following the Government’s latest decision to revise its plan to lower the pledging price, Mr Vichian Phumlamjiak, Chairman of the newly-formed Thai Rice Farmers and Farm Folks Association, said the original price would encourage farmers to maintain the quality of rice and keep the younger generation of farmers motivated to grow rice as their main career.
