According to the Ministry of Commerce, over 6,000 new businesses have been registered in May of 2013, while a decrease has been seen in the number of deregistrations.
Deputy Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikua revealed that in the month of May, over 6,000 new businesses were registered, which accounted for a 26 percent rise compared to the same period last year. The total registered capital was valued at 19.8 billion baht.
The deputy minister further revealed that most of the businesses registered in May were recreational service, construction, and real estate businesses.
Meanwhile, the number of business closures in May was at 827, which accounted for a 13 percent drop year-on-year. The reason behind the decrease, according to Mr. Nattawut, was the weakening baht value.
