The 12 Regiment of Army Rangers in Sa Kaeo province and people who live along the Thai-Cambodian border yesterday joined hands in planting 81,000 young trees in a reforestation project to honor Her Majesty the Queen.
The reforestation was launched along the irrigation canal in Ban Mai Di Ngam Village in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province. Leading the planting activity was Lt-Colonel Somsak Jitkhram, task force chief of staff under the Burapha Force. It was participated by military personnel and people in Pa Rai sub-district.
The reforestation program has been designed as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her 81st birthday anniversary on August 12, this year. It is also intended to create unity among people in the community. The tree saplings used in the project are of economic value such as pha-yung or Siamese rosewood, ma-kha-mong or black rosewood and khi-lek or Cassia trees.
