Thailand is taking the lead to signal to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that its relations with Cambodia is based on the ASEAN spirit.
“This is a general meeting to discuss border concerns.” Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat said. “We have no conflicts at the border.”
The meeting is set for Friday.
Thailand’s relation with Cambodia took a negative turn during the regime of Prime Minister Abhisit, spurred by Thai neo-fascists, which saw military clashes over the dispute of the surrounding land, Preah Vihear temple.
Prime Minister Yingluck’s Government is keen to strengthen ties with its neighbors, in the spirit of collaboration, peace and democratic values.
The ICJ ruling is expected in October.
