Yingluck Discuss Bilateral Relations and Refugees with Thein Sein

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra attended bilateral talks with Myanmar President Thein Sein during the ASEAN Summit in Brunei, during which several issues of cooperation were discussed.

On Thursday, Deputy Government Spokesman Phakdihan Himathongkham reported that the Thai PM had met with the Myanmar President during her visit to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, to participate in the 22nd ASEAN Summit. Among the topics discussed between the two leaders were the problems of Rohingya refugees and displaced people who illegally immigrated to Thailand from Myanmar.

The two countries are preparing to celebrate the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. On this occasion, Ms Yingluck extended her invitation to President Thein Sein to participate in the 69th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok this April 29 as well as the Asia-Pacific Water Summit 2013 in Chiang Mai next month.
