Thailand’s Prime Minister has called on all state agencies to actively adopt and further promote the government’s energy saving campaign.
Culture Minister Sontaya Kunplome revealed on Tuesday that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Cabinet ministers attended the weekly meeting in attires made of Thai fabric, which the Culture Ministry has arranged for, as part of the government’s energy saving initiative. Sontaya added that the Culture Ministry will encourage the public to switch to use more Thai fabric in order to help business operators and boost revenue of local producers.
In addition, the ministry is kicking off the “Thai Fabric Caravan” campaign to promote Thai fabric-made attires in state and private offices.
The new campaign opened for the first time at the Parliament, featuring an exhibition of Thai fabric designs, a fashion show and the sales of local materials from dozens of leading shops. Mr. Sontaya said the event will stay open to the public until Wednesday.
