Lao Deputy PM meets Yingluck in Bangkok

Thongloun Sisoulith met Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok. The visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic spoke about bilateral relations and strengthening of trade between the two countries.

The 18th Thai-Lao Joint Committee meeting has resolved to cooperate on the demarcation of 14 border areas and agreed to set up a new permanent border pass. 

Held in Prachuap Khiri Khan province in Thailand on Wednesday, the Thai-Lao Joint Committee meeting was attended by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Surapong Tovijakchaikul and his Lao counterpart. The meeting discussed and followed up on cooperative projects between the two countries in various fields. Major points agreed upon are Thai-Lao border demarcation and the turning of the temporary border pass of Phu Du in Utttaradit province into a permanent one.
