Criminal Court to Decide on Bail for Yossawaris

BANGKOK – Thailand’s Criminal Court has scheduled to submit a decision on September 5, whether Mr. Yossawaris Chuklom or commonly known as Jeng Dokchik, will be released on bail.

Yossawaris was held in detention at the Lak Si prison. His bail was revoked on August 22 and has made an appeal for bail.

Yossawaris, who is an influential “Red Shirt” leader, was confined for publicly expressing his views and publicizing personal information about the judges of the Constitution Court.

According to news report, he said if he was allowed bail once again, he would strictly follow bail conditions.

Democrat Party representative Nipit Intarasombat, who petitioned the court for the withdrawal of Yossawaris’ bail, has objected the new bid for bail though he did not elaborate justified grounds relevant to the case.

Thailand’s political arena has been gripped with daily tense moments.

Some sources have said that members of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) had revealed telephone numbers and coordinates of “Red Shirt” politicians four years ago, in what was seen as deliberate political attacks. Though no legal action was taken against the invasion of privacy.

The minority opposition has voiced its concerns about the government of Prime Minister Ms. Yingluck Shinawatra.

However with the success of Yingluck’s one year in office, the Democrat Party and PAD has little factual issues about the democratic progress and societal development of the country.
