All Thais would agree that their mainstream media sways to the tunes of politicians and the gossip hungry society. Never leave out the corporations and businessmen who controls the writers, editors and journalists. Many reporters are only eager for exaggerated news and fulfilling the demands of their pay-masters.
1. How accountable is the media? Or have they forgotten about the values of journalism and integrity?
2. Transparency is dead in Thailand. I think the job of media is to feed people with juicy news and scandalous information – to generate more readership which ultimately leads people deeper into the hole of dishonesty.
3. Media controls the mentality of the Thai audience. The media does little to instill the spirit of accountability. Pick up the newspaper, or read the news on Facebook, and you will understand what I am talking about.
